Debut album of Krautrock from 1971. A mixture of prog and psychedlia with long, inventive passages. Very much along the lines of Mythos’ debut, these guys were very skilled musicians who lengthened tunes with excellent variety and weren’t afraid to get heavy when required.

Czech vocal group. There’s a bunch of cool songs on this record by a group that sounds like an Eastern Bloc version of the Osmond Family in their Crazy Horses period if they were backed by an Italian prog – vocal oriented, lots of harmonies but dark and militaristic. Most notable for “Ram Pristich…” which was used as an opener by Andy Votel on his “Songs In The Key Of Death” mix CD.Includes the original insert.

Ultra stoned Japanese avant psych from the mid 70s from the same people responsible for Brast Burn “Debon”. Described as Japan’s version of Faust. Long jams with stoned mutterings and electronics and tape loops along with primitive rattles and acoustic guitar and no drums. This is a real monster!
Thirsty Moon / You’ll Never Come Back
Label. Brain
Disc. VG+

$120
Original green Brain pressing of this Krautrock band’s second album, released in 1973. The band plays a jazz-rock style with an added element of space or cosmic vibe. This is my favourite of their albums. Mentioned in the NWW list.

Heavy organ-led progressive rock issued in 1972 on the budget Windmill label from the UK. Supposedly these guys were real live band (not just session guys).
Various / Pop & Blues Festival ’70

Hard to find Krautrock record featuring a couple of obscure bands. My highlight is the sidelong bastardisation (in the best possible way!) of Donovan’s “Season of the Witch” by Tomorrow’s Gift. But there are also good tracks by Frumpy, Beatique In Corporation, Sphinx Tush and Thrice Mice. People who chase the NWW list will know that this is the only place to find tracks by those last two bands, both of which are on the list.
Friar Tuck & His Psychedelic Guitar
Label. Mercury
Disc. VG+

$90
Psychsploitation from Mike Deasy with the help of Curt Boettcher (Sagittarius) and Gary Paxton (“Monster Mash”). A psyched-out “Monster Mash” is probably a good starting point – this is a fun album with a bunch of cool tunes of primitive drumming, good garage guitar and some hidden drug references.
Kali Bahlu / Takes The Forest Children On A Journey Of Cosmic Remembrance

Very much a record of its time. The sound is nice meditative sitar tunes with a acid poetry. A hippie women telling long stories of lite mysticism.

A Krautrock masterpiece! Debut album on the Ohr label that shows lots of invention as the band moves effortlessly between experimental electronics, eastern influences and heavy, heavy prog, with the band utilising all manner of instruments acoustic, electric and electronic. A seamless record that has lots to offer lysergic journeyers. Much darker than their later, dreamier records.

Rare French record from 1980 that mixes the dark Zuehl prog sounds of bands like Archaia and Eskaton with a punk feel. Outrageous female vocals with all sorts of crazy whelps and hoots. Will appeal to fans of RIO (Rock In Opposition) bands, the harsher edge of Faust or anyone that likes the darkness of coldwave but prefers traditional rock instruments.

Great record by Serge Franklin. Psychedelic ragas played in an almost jazz style. Includes the 8 minute droning freakout of Mahabaratha Kali . French original. Side one has some light scuffs which cause some light noise.

Seminal Krautrock LP. Cosmic atmospheres alongside absolutely blistering psychedelic jams. Original edition with fold-out cover. The already fragile cover has clear tape on the edges as well as red pen on the spine. Stamp on label. Still very presentable.

Progressive folk from Sweden. Groovy organ driven tracks with touches of folky weirdness. It’s quite a strange record really…
Moir Sisters / Lost Somewhere beyond Harmony

Certainly one of the more curious Australian prog recordings of the 70s. Soft vocal harmony over a mid 70s groove sound played by an all star backing band. Featuring Billy Green from the Stone OST as well as Melbourne jazzer Brian Brown. Always in demand.
Garrison / The Final Blow Unit 1

The Garrison was an important Melbourne 70s rock venue that had an untimely forced closure in 1973. Mushroom records released two LPs of farewell performances from various Australian Rock and prog groups. This is probably the best of the two LPs. If drum breaks are your thing then this record is for you as there’s close to ten minutes of clean drums.

A true Australian prog record. No Aussie boogie blues here. Long extended jams with wailing guitar and electric violin. Some heavy wear to the cover plus a tear at the opening.

Landmark Australian prog/blues LP. We’re letting this copy go a little cheaper due to the condition. Disc 1) VG+ plays great. Disc 2) VG small surface scuffs/plays with light noise in parts. For us it’s the spacey prog tunes that make this album, which are similar in style to early 70s Pink Floyd/Soft Machine.

All the QC records are rare outside of New Zealand and this Post-humous
Comp is no exception. I guess you would say they were an NZ equivalent of Blood, Sweet & Tears but with a heavier progressive feel. Even similarities with the UKs Affinity could be drawn. Rare. Staining on white card, some hairlines, plays with light noise in quieter parts.

French progressive / Jazz-rock. Contact is a minor masterpiece in the field of inspired, powerful free-jazz-rock that makes the most out of a simple guitar-bass-drums format. Similar in places to Exmagma. Contains ex members of Komintern, Red Noise & Pataphonie. – Dag Erik Asbjornsen

Sunshine pop masterpiece from the genius producer Gary Usher, who worked with the Byrds, Beach Boys etc. Features Cut Boettcher, too. The label went out of business not long after this record was released and it is therefore pretty difficult to find.
